Homeownership with Habitat

Are you interested in owning a home with Habitat? If so, please attend an Informational Meeting where our homeownership program will be explained and applications are handed out. You must attend an Informational Meeting to receive an application!  These meetings are held twice a year in February and August. The upcoming meetings are scheduled for:

    In English:
    Monday, August 4 - from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
    Wednesday, August 6 - from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
    Saturday, August 9 - from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
    Wednesday, August 13 - from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m
    Saturday, August 16 - from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

    In Spanish:
    Saturday, August 9 - from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Applications are due by the deadline and families will be notified of whether they were accepted three months later. Between the application due date and the notification date, families passing the minimum income requirements (see chart below) are required to schedule and attend a Financial Assessment Meeting and a Housing Inspection Meeting.

Qualified families must be willing to invest hundreds of volunteer hours in educational classes, on Habitat worksites, and in the building of their own home.  Families purchase their home from Habitat at the cost of the materials with a zero-percent interest mortgage, with affordable monthly mortgage payments. The three criteria for acceptance into the Habitat program include:

       1.  Ability to Pay—Helps ensure each applicant is financially prepared to be a homeowner and pay their monthly mortgage payment.

       2.  Need for Housing—Will determine if an applicant’s current housing is inadequate and whether applicant is able to get adequate housing through other means.

       3.  Willingness to Partner—Will be examined throughout the selection process, as applicants meet process requirements.

Minimum and Maximum Gross Annual Income Requirements
    Family Size Minimum/Year Maximum/Year
    1 $14,000 $25,020
    2 $14,000 $28,560

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, or sources of income.
