Building on Faith
Habitat for Humanity and the church are natural partners—each seeking to serve Jesus Christ by serving those in need. The Faith Relations department of Habitat for Humanity endeavors to embody the spirit of Jesus by serving families, transforming lives and building communities.
The Faith Relations department develops church partnerships in the local communities through various house building projects and an emphasis on providing a means for churches to achieve their ministry goals. Habitat for Humanity looks to the church to help raise awareness of the need for decent housing and to become advocates for those in need of shelter. Habitat for Humanity seeks to be a true servant of the church, finding ways to build on our shared faith, and emphasizing ways that being a Habitat partner can benefit a church and its members.
We currently work with over 50 local churches, at different levels of partnership, to build homes, build our community, and build the kingdom of God through tangible expressions of Christ's love.
How to get involved as a Church:
Join us daily for prayer. Our staff meets in the conference room at our office each morning at 9am for prayer. On Mondays we pray for our Habitat affiliates in our world and nation. On Tuesdays we pray for specific departments within our Habitat affiliate, such as Construction or ReStore. Wednesdays we pray for our volunteers, donors, and churches who partner with us. Thursdays we pray for our staff. Fridays we pray for our partner families.
Participate in a building project. Matthew 25 Church House or Thrivent Lutheran House.
