About Us

The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are retail outlets for new and gently-used building supplies, which are donated by generous individuals, corporations and contractors. They are open to the public and general contractors to purchase items, such as building supplies, carpet, appliances and furniture, at significant discounts, often 30 to 70 percent below average retail prices. Funds from ReStore sales are put back into building more Habitat homes throughout St. Joseph County and fulfilling the Habitat mission of providing simple, decent and affordable homes for hard-working, low-income families in our community.

      Benefits of a ReStore
      1. Local businesses and other organizations may donate excess building materials that would normally be discarded
      2. Customers can buy materials to improve their homes at low cost, increasing their standard of living
      3. All profits from ReStore go directly to cover the local Habitat affiliate's costs, allowing donated and raised funds to go directly to building homes
      4. More building materials are recycled, saving landfills
      5. Contractors, landlords, and do-it-yourselfers have an great way to reduce their property improvement costs
      6. Habitat families have another low cost option for items needed in the upkeep of their homes
      7. And many, many other benefitssocially and economically. The ReStore really helps the whole community.

      Brief History
Habitat's ReStore originated as a warehouse for the building supplies of its Affiliates. Local Affiliates quickly realized the need to open to the public.

Habitat's ReStores now sell discounted building items and other merchandise, lowering the cost of home upkeep. ReStores, historically, cover the costs of the local Affiliate's operational expenses so they can provide funding for building more homes.

ReStore has become a benefit to the local community and the local Habitat Affiliates mutually. The store provides local residents a place to locate items for upkeep and repair of their homes.

ReStores obtain nearly all of their materials from donations. These donations come from local businesses, homeowners, landlords, contractors, and more. These generous partners can sometimes be our greatest customers as well.

All items are evaluated to obtain the highest quality of material possible. ReStores do not accept "junk" or trinkets. The focus is on construction materials, but other items are accepted to supplement sales and fill the sales floor.

Donation Wish List: • Paint Shaker
• Paint Tint Machine

*These items will help the ReStore serve customers better!*
